What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method that works with the cranial bones, the sacrum, and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Using only the lightest touch, CST helps release restrictions in the craniosacral system, supports the optimal function of the nervous system, and encourages the body’s natural ability to restore balance and heal.
Through years of working as a therapist, I noticed how deep tensions often remain hidden in the body—especially in the head and abdominal regions. These subtle restrictions are not easily reached through conventional massage or manual therapy. My search for an approach that could safely and effectively release such patterns led me to Craniosacral Therapy.
Here in Nevada City and Grass Valley, surrounded by nature and a culture that values wellness and mindful living, CST offers a way to care for both the brain and the body. It is a non-invasive, restorative therapy that helps the body and mind find inner stillness, reduces stress, and supports long-term resilience in the nervous system.
Although Craniosacral Therapy is considered a complementary approach, research continues to explore its benefits. Studies suggest its potential role in easing chronic pain, supporting trauma recovery, and improving quality of life in individuals with neurological conditions. Neuroscience also points to the ability of gentle manual therapies to influence the autonomic nervous system, reduce stress responses, and encourage physiological balance.
